The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation and Galatoire’s Restaurant will sponsor a fundraiser dinner for seventh-generation Louisiana shrimper Ray Brandhurst on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at 7 p.m. in Harrah’s Theatre.
As a founder of The White Boot Brigade, Brandhurst became the face of the local seafood industry after Hurricane Katrina by promoting the importance of buying wild-caught Louisiana seafood instead of imports. He recently developed stage-three lung cancer and is undergoing a series of costly medical treatments not covered by insurance.
Galatoire’s Executive Chef Brian Landry will serve dishes featuring wild-caught Louisiana shrimp. The menu includes shrimp cocktail with seasonal vegetables; shrimp and okra gumbo; sautéed drum over Creole ratatouille with bronzed shrimp and roasted garlic hollandaise; and Galatoire’s banana bread pudding.
Seats are $125 per person or $1,250 per table, inclusive of tax and gratuity. All proceeds will be donated to Brandhurst. Additional participating sponsors for the dinner include Slow Food New Orleans, Market Umbrella and Harrah’s Hotel & Casino. For reservations, contact Christi Gaudet at 504-525-2021, cgaudet@galatoires.com.
