Louisiana Hospitality Foundation to Sponsor 2010 ProStart Student Competition
Feb 4, 2010 –
NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation has teamed up with the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation to sponsor the 2010 ProStart Student Competition. The event will be held March 2 – 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center.
The annual competition features high school student teams from around Louisiana competing against one another in both culinary and management categories. The event gives ProStart students the opportunity to showcase their abilities in these areas.
With more than 50 schools and 1,200 high school students, the LRAEF’s ProStart program is a comprehensive two-year curriculum that encourages students to learn all aspects of operating and managing a foodservice business. It was developed to increase the quality and employability of today’s high school graduates by providing industry-based training and opportunities for higher education.
The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to offer greater access to culinary education and arts, while providing support for the health and social welfare of children across the state. The LHF executes this through community outreach, children’s education, hospitality industry financial assistance and benevolence. For more information, visit www.louisianahospitalityfoundation.org.
