Louisiana Hospitality Foundation Donates Kitchen Equipment to Café Hope

Apr 6, 2010 –

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation and Sysco recently teamed up to donate professional cooking equipment totaling $7,000 to Café Hope, a new restaurant program created by the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans that trains at-risk youth for a career in the restaurant industry.

Louisiana Hospitality Foundation members met with Café Hope staff and students and members of Catholic Charities to present the kitchen equipment in preparation for the restaurant grand opening on April 19.

Café Hope is a restaurant located on the Hope Haven Campus in Marrero. With a farm-to-table component, Café Hope will focus on providing job readiness training and placement and teaching students gardening skills centered on the importance of fresh produce in a professional kitchen.

The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to offer greater access to culinary education and arts, while providing support for the health and social welfare of children across the state.  The LHF executes this through community outreach, children’s education, hospitality industry financial assistance and benevolence.
