Louisiana Hospitality Foundation Aids Restaurant Burn Victims with $5,000 Grant

Nov 18, 2008 – The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation (LHF) has donated $5,000 to James Koonce and his 4-year-old daughter, Katharine, who were injured in a fire at Brennan’s Restaurant of Houston during Hurricane Ike. The check was presented at a fundraiser held on Monday, November 3, at Commander’s Palace.

“As Louisiana restaurant owners, we understand the impact and devastation that hurricanes have on our industry and our workers,” said Tommy Cvitanovich, LHF board member and owner of Drago’s Seafood Restaurant.  “We’re pleased to help others overcome the effects of Hurricane Ike.  We wish the Koonce family a speedy recovery.”

With the $5,000 donation to the Koonce family, the LHF continues to help those in need. The foundation provided kitchen equipment to legendary restaurateur Leah Chase helping her reopen Dooky Chase Restaurant following Hurricane Katrina.  Recently, members of the foundation served over 1,000 meals to victims of Hurricane Gustav in Montegut and Napoleonville, LA.
